Jeffrey Sexton joined Bloomberg Horizons in Dubai to discuss the Federal Reserve, higher Treasury yields, changing market breadth and what a more normal interest-rate environment means for U.S. equities.

On 16 September 2026, Jeffrey Sexton, Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Demeter Tactical Investments Middle East, joined Abeer Abu Omar on Bloomberg Horizons in Dubai for a live discussion on the outlook for markets as investors weighed the Federal Reserve’s next move, elevated Treasury yields and higher energy prices.

Money Has a Price Again

Jeffrey Sexton described the extended period of near-zero interest rates as an unusual chapter in financial history and said that the current environment has brought the cost of money back into the investment equation.

In his view, as yields become meaningful again, equities face greater competition for capital, which changes the way investors assess valuations across the market.

Market Breadth Is Beginning to Shift

The discussion also covered the concentration that has characterized parts of the U.S. equity market and the more recent broadening in participation.

Jeffrey Sexton pointed to the relative strength of the equal-weighted S&P 500 as one indication that market leadership is beginning to extend beyond the small group of large companies that have dominated the index, and noted that higher yields are placing greater pressure on the more expensively valued growth stocks.

The Fed, Energy and AI

On monetary policy, Jeffrey Sexton said that energy prices are one factor within a much broader set of considerations facing the Federal Reserve.

The interview also covered artificial intelligence, including the distinction between the companies developing the underlying models and the businesses deploying AI across their operations, and what that distinction means for valuations across the sector.
